Buddies and Babies

Buddy and I were finally able to schedule a visit with each other to have our little girls meet.  (AJ stayed home with Daddy for a boys day!)  Sadie was born on November 30th so she's about a month younger than Chloe, but you definitely wouldn't know that by the looks of the two when we put them next to each other - Sadie is just a tad bit bigger!!  The girls were absolutely adorable together and loved having playtime on their tummies.  Chloe was quite vocal and was squealing and trying to talk to Sadie, while Sadie was thinking 'what the heck is this girl being so loud for?'  I can't wait to have a girls day again so Buddy and I can catch up and the girls can play!

Big Boy

I went up to Tewksbury, MA today with AJ in tow for an Assumption College Res Life RA girls get-together at Buddy's house.  It was so great to see everyone - it had been so long! - and AJ was a trooper the whole time.  Because he was such a good boy, I let him sit at the table with the girls and eat a yummy chocolate cookie!  He loved it!

Visiting Auntie Sarah's New House

We made the two-hour trek up to Tewksbury, MA this morning to visit 'Auntie' Sarah and to see her new house.  We brought a traditional house warming gift of bread (so the family will never go hungry), salt (so there will always be flavor and spice in their life), rice (so the family may be fertile and multiply) and a broom (to sweep all their troubles away).  Sarah originally I thought I was giving her food that I could eat for lunch while up there (haha!), but when she read the card she understood the meaning behind it all and seemed quite thankful.  We also were lucky enough to see 'Uncle' Steve while up there when he came home from work!  After a delicious lunch of grilled chicken and salad, some girl talk and AJ cuddles with 'Auntie' Sarah - it was time to head home. :(  But once we got home, Sarah and I were texting a bit about how much fun we had this afternoon and that we definitely need to make it an every other month occurrence.  So... by putting this on the blog - you guys all have to hold us to it or else!  ;)  We already have our January 2013 visit planned so we're starting off on the right foot!

My Surprise 30th Party!

Everyone in our family has had a surprise 30th birthday party so I figured my hubby or sister would throw one for me as well.  (I might have demanded one too - but who's really asking?!)  I was told to not snoop around and to just let the little elves do their work.  Well, when my actual birthday came around and there was no party, I figured it had to be either the next day or the day after that.  I had a feeling my 5k race put a dent in their plans when trying to plan it so they would have to have it the day after my birthday because they wouldn't want me eating lots of cake before the race! And I was right!  Sarah had come down the night before and stayed over, then we did the race and came back to our house to shower up and hang out before she headed back to MA for the night.  After getting cleaned up from the race, Sarah and I headed over to my parents house where AJ was because Michael supposedly was helping my cousin Matt stain his deck.  The plan was Sarah was going to say goodbye to AJ and go back to MA. But, surprise surprise - there were a whole lot of cars in my parents driveway - my surprise party was today! YAY!!  I had so much fun seeing all my friends and family - I couldn't have asked for a better day!  (Those downpours could have stayed away - but other than that - the day was perfect!)  Thanks to my hubby and family for throwing it for me! :)

Unfortunately we didn't take a lot of pictures today - shame on us! - but the ones we have show we had a good time!

Color Me Rad 5k!

About a month and a half ago, my friend Meagan signed up for the Color Me Rad 5k in Hartford and I saw a link to it on facebook and was intrigued by it.  It was a race where you start out with a white shirt and then get color bombed with colored cornstarch while running the race so you come out looking like a tie-dyed crazy person!  I had been wanting to do a 5k for a while now, but no race really sparked my interest as I hadn't had the time to formally train for one.  So when I saw this Color Me Rad 5k, it looked like a lot of fun with all of the color stations and no timing as to when one finished.  It was more about having fun than really being a race - and that's exactly what I was looking for!  So, I signed up for it.  And in the process of signing up I noticed it was perfect timing - the race was the day after my 30th birthday and I couldn't imagine a better start to a new decade than with a splash of color from the Color Me Rad 5k!

Unfortunately, I don't have any before pictures but just imagine us with pure white shirts!

The Big Debate

Many of you know that I am a Yankees fan and Michael is a Red Sox fan.  So, of course when it comes to AJ, he has to like both teams for now until he can make his own decision (but I know he will pick the Yankees over the Red Sox if he knows what's good for him!!).  Well, for my baby shower Auntie Sarah gave us a cute little shirt that said 'My First Red Sox Tee'.  I wasn't a fan of it, naturally - but Michael loved it.  Well, fast forward to when I was in the hospital and just had AJ, Auntie Jeanette gave us a 'My First Yankees Tee'.  He's finally big enough to wear both of them so on one day AJ was a Red Sox fan and the next day he was a Yankees fan.  The big debate won't be over for a few years so until then... he'll sporting both team logos!
