To the Docs We Go

We headed to the on-call doctor's office in Glastonbury this morning for a check up on AJ.  His hives were almost all gone with a few traces of them lingering around, but for the most part he looked ten times better than yesterday.  The doctor advised us to stop the amoxicillin (which we had yesterday) and continue on with the benadryl for as long as we need to.  She said he looked great and gave us the green light to continue with our vacation plans to PA and OH.  Woohoo!!

Somebody got a treat on their way to the doctor's office:  chocolate milk and chocolate munchkins.

 

After the long wait at the doctor's office and the eventful past few days, even chocolate milk and munchkins couldn't keep our little boy awake.  Sweetly sleeping.

Look What Else..

In addition to an ear infection and pink eye, the worst has happened.  AJ has cpme down with hives and seems to be allergic to amoxicillin like his Mommy.  Our little boy cannot catch a break!  While Daddy ran out to the store tonight for kids benadryl after talking with an on-call nurse, Mommy tried to distract AJ with some fun running games around the house.  As for a plan, we'll go see the on-call doctor tomorrow to make sure nothing else is going on and hopefully get the go-ahead that we can still go on vacation to PA and OH.

Throughout this whole ordeal, AJ has been a super trooper.  He's barely complained and has been trying to make the best of it.  But as a Mommy, I wish I could take it all away.. there's nothing worse than seeing your child sick and feeling helpless....

I first noticed some hives and a rash on his face around 4pm.

 

Also noticed some hives on his leg.

It quickly started spreading and getting itchy... 

By 9:30pm, it was everywhere... his ankles...

Thighs.

Arms and hands.

His face had gotten a lot worse by this time, but he was still smiling!

 

 

 

And he was still smiling through it all.

His belly didn't escape the hives.    

And then Daddy came home with the benadryl and 

AJ was able to get some relief and zzzzz's....

Definitely Pink Eye

Look what we woke up to this morning?  Eyes stuck shut due to pinkeye crusties.  My poor AJ can't catch a break.

Ear Infection

Our little guy has been complaining about his ear bothering him for the past day or so, so I decided to leave work and take him to the doctor.  It turns out that he has an ear infection.  A prescription of amoxicillin it is and hopefully AJ will be feeling as good as new!

[Sidenote: Mommy is a bit nervous about the amoxicillin prescription because she is allergic to it.  The doctor says that allergy doesn't necessarily transfer over to the kids so this will be the test.]
