Sunflowers for Wishes 2013

Cioci Kimmy came over this morning to watch AJ so I could go in to work early so this afternoon we could make our annual trip to Buttonwoods' Sunflower for Wishes Festival.

We treated the kiddos to some chips while we waited.

Then it was off on the hayride!  These piggies were going all sorts of crazy and running around..
 the kiddos loved them!

Then we made our way to the cow pasture where a baby cow was nursing.

_MG_9861
Moo!

_MG_9858
The kiddos were able to grab some hay from the trailer and try to feed the cows.

_MG_9863
Katie was successful in feeding the cows.

_MG_9865
AJ was getting frustrated because for some reason they didn't want to come near him!

_MG_9867
But he tried again... along with all the other kiddos.

_MG_9870
There he is.. coming in for the straw!

_MG_9874
Although Maddie isn't tall enough to feed the cows, she was enjoying watching them with Mommy.

_MG_9876
Bye cows.

_MG_9878
Watching as the tractor drove us from the cows to the sunflowers..

_MG_9882
There they are!

Look at Miss Riley's face... priceless!

_MG_9893
Too funny!

_MG_9896
Couldn't resist taking some close-up sunflowers pics as we entered into the field.

_MG_9918
Loved how this one wasn't quite ready... still such a beauty though.

Then we attempted the annual pictures in the sunflower fields.

Clearly it wasn't going well for me.

The closest thing to a 'normal' picture of me and AJ in the field

_MG_9922
I then tried to calm him down since he was so hyper by showing him some sunflowers....

_MG_9932
But he still wasn't interested in taking a cutesy picture with Mommy!

AJ was digging the kid-sized sunflower.

_MG_9941
He even tried to smell it.. although his smelling consists of blowing out air
from his nose rather than inhaling..silly boy!

Katie and Allie wanted a sniff too!

One last sunflower pic with a bee on it before we left to go get some yummy ice cream!

The kiddos were literally running to the ice cream stand from the field... love this picture!

Buttonwood Sunflower for Wishes

After the rummage sale, we headed out to Buttonwood's Sunflower for Wishes festival with Cioci Kimmy, Katie, Allie, Marisa and her daughter, Riley.  Our first order of business when we arrived was the hay ride!

AJ on the lookout for cows

There they are!

The cows came right up to us and were demanding their food with some loud 'moos'!

AJ telling Mr. Cow he doesn't have anymore hay/grass to feed him!

The kids loved how close the cows were

Katie found some hay to feed Mr. Cow

Munch munch munch

Katie taking it all in!

We got to see this baby calf that was only one day old!  It's crazy how they already can be self-sufficient  at only one day old!

Another photo op of the girls

Katie loves her cowgirl hat that Babcia got her!

Looking at the cows in the distance as we drove by them again

Now on to the sunflowers!

Me and my little man!

Some country barns and sunflowers

Sunflowers all around

After the hay ride was finished, we were planning on getting ice cream and then heading out to the field to try and get some more sunflower pics.  But one look at the dark and gloomy clouds that were rolling in convinced us to take pictures first and then go get ice cream....

We were super smart in taking pictures first!  After we were finished with the sunflowers, we headed back to the parking lot and dropped our camera gear off in the cars and then moved the cars closer to the ice cream line.  We then got in line for yummy ice cream and waited! Not more than 3 minutes had passed as we were in line and the skies opened up and we were drenched!  Luckily though, Marisa and Riley live only a few minutes away from the farm so after we ordered our ice cream we packed up and headed over to their house.  There, we ate our yummy ice cream and the kids had some play time! Such a fun afternoon!
