A Trip to the Barber

Our little man's hair was getting a bit too long so we made a trip to the barber aka 'the hair doctor'.   We couldn't leave for vacation without a new do!

I decided to have some spikes in the front!

He is just adorable!

Haircut

AJ got a haircut today.  It was by far the worst experience we've had with him yet - Daddy had to cradle hold him in the chair and Mommy had to hold his head so Ali could cut his hair.  There were lots of tears and crying, but in the end - AJ got a cute haircut and he survived!

He's got a little bit of cheese in his teeth, but who cares?! Isn't he adorable?!

Haircut at My New Haircut

Michael's co-worker told him about a new barbershop in town (My New Haircut) so when it was time to get AJ's haircut, we decided to give the new shop a whirl.  We were very impressed with the shop!  It has a nice waiting area with cartoons on tv for the kiddos and plenty of books/coloring books to keep the kids occupied if they're not interested in television.

We had about a 15-20 minute wait before it was AJ's turn, but he was completely content with watching Caillou for a bit before turning it over to the coloring books.  (Mom - he went straight for the Halloween coloring book - you would have been proud!)  He was in really good spirits.  But then it was AJ's turn to sit in the barber's chair.  He was fine for the first few minutes, but then the meltdown ensued.  He was not thrilled about nor did he care that there was a super cool tv behind the mirror and that lady - she was using scissors on him, ugh!  Of course Michael and I are standing there with our phones trying to bring up a Thomas and Disney Junior app to try and distract AJ, but nothing worked.  He was cranky and not happy about getting his hair cut at all.  The barber even told us that we could come by a little bit later in the week when AJ had calmed down if we wanted, but we figured we would just get it over and done with in this one shot.

After all was said and done, even though AJ was cranky and upset with us, he came out looking like a million bucks!  Our handsome little boy was back!

Not too excited about her cutting the lower portion of his hair

He was ok for this though...

More Thomas that kept him calm

And this was right before he had his meltdown.... But we survived and he came out with a super cute cut (which I forgot to take a photo of!)!

Barbershop Time!

Today was AJ's first time getting his hair cut in a real barbershop!  We went to Dad's Barbershop on Route 32 in North Franklin, which is where Daddy goes.  AJ was such a big boy and behaved very well.  We're so proud of him!

'Who are you and what are you going to be doing to me?!'

+Taking a peek in the mirror at himself

He just sat there and was such a big boy the entire time!

'Almost done Mommy!'

'Look at me and how handsome I look!'

Looking all spiffy in his carseat after his first big boy haircut!

Second Haricut

I took AJ this afternoon to get his second haircut at Little Klippers Hair Salon in Colchester.  Other than a little fussing in the beginning, he did really well!  (It probably helped that I was blowing bubbles the whole time to keep him distracted!)

Sitting in the golf cart chair all ready for his second haircut!

A little anxious...

Time to cut!

Look at that handsome boy with his new haircut!

Playing with some toys while Mommy paid

Sitting in his big boy carseat with his new haircut (and not happy with Mommy because he was exhausted and needed a nap!)

Getting a haircut is hard work!

AJ's 1st Haircut

I've been contemplating bringing AJ to get a haircut because his hair is just getting out of control, but I haven't been ready for it.  I don't want my little boy to grow up yet!  But, alas, after a little heckling from Cioci Kimmy and deep down knowing the hair needed to be tamed - Daddy and I brought AJ to Scissor Kids in Glastonbury this morning for his first haircut.  Peg was wonderful with AJ and made him feel comfortable (for the most part!) throughout the entire cut and she made my little baby look like a toddler!  What a difference a haircut can make!

Before the haircut....

Crazy hair AJ!

...and the haircut journey begins! He picked the red car to sit in.

'Uh..Dad..what's this lady doing to me?!'

'Daddy... help me!'

We tried to calm him down with his favorite toy of the moment - the Sing-a-ma-jig!

'Oh.. it's not so bad, I can see myself in the mirror!'

He was still trying to escape though!

'Daddy.. this lady hasn't stopped yet!'

Peg was wonderful with AJ!

...Still cutting...

'This thing has a horn - let me press it!'

'Look Dad.. I'm driving and beeping the horn!'

Cutting the mohawk...sad!

Trimming up those bangs

Now to tackle the sides...

Daddy collected some of AJ's hair for Grandma to have

AJ wasn't so sure about the razor/shaver thing

All done!

'Dad.. I did it!! I survived!'

Mr. Serious with his new haircut!

'Yay me!'

'I'm so handsome I can't stop looking at myself!'
